This is going to be tough.
I am not sure I can put into words what I felt walking into the World Cup game. What an incredible rush. Huge lines of people all geared up for a great match. The noise of the crowd before the game was intense. You could feel the energy in the place and the feeling watching the game play out - I can't put this into words. One interesting thing is the wave of feelings going through the fans. Italian fans cheering on the Aussies before the game - yelling at the top of their lungs during the game and shaking fists - and then drinking and laughing into the early morning. Damn those Aussies can drink. It was hard to tell that they had lost.
One note - I did end up paying a bit more as there were tickets for sale near the gate for about 2/3 what I paid but who knows if they were real and besides I saw a freaking World Cup game!

Well worth the price of the ticket - whatever the cost! Besides it doesn't sound like you were up to your double retail standards.
Side note - Steve left a message this morning that he is off to Berlin (skipping Hanover). There is also talk of him heading to Prague for a day. Just thought I would fill in some details
Steve,
If the smile on your face with ticket in hand is even a fraction of the joy/elation you felt *at* the game . . . well, I think you may just keel over the minute you say "I do!" Your life will have been complete. :-)
By the way, Zoe sends her love! :D
Hi Uncle Steve,
I'm glad that you are having a great time in Germany.

Hey Steve,
If you go to Prague, ask for a "suchy" (su- hee) martini.
Sounds like you're having a blast!

To All -
Got a few emails from Steve - that Prague was a nice trip. He is headed to Berlin on the train and will be homeless again tomorrow. I just wanted to let his friends and family know that he is still alive and won't be with email until Friday.
Hey Steve,
I have a friend/client who lives in Australia. I shared your comments about seeing the Aussie game with her. Her reply is below:
"I loved what your friend wrote!! Yes, we certainly know how to drink & party. The whole of Australia was cheering on the "Socceroos". The game was played at 1.00 am our time and everybody I know sat up and watched it. In fact, they are having a "parade" through Sydney CBD for the Socceroos when they get home.......even the Prime Minister sent them a letter!!"
Can't wait to hear all about your travels when you get home. Enjoy the rest of the trip!
Tom
